Almost everyone is aware of the new Nitto NT05 Tires that have become the new rave, but is it what they say it is? Well,
this is precisely what our experts hear at Cruizin Concepts Wholesale LLC have
already tackled for you hands on. After all, we were indeed the first company in the entire aftermarket Mustang wheel and tire industry to stock
our shelves with this new innovative product. We have put the Nitto NT05 Tires through
rigorous internal tests at our facility from the way it performs on the street,
to how well the tire mounts and balances out. However the most important test
and poll if you will has been with "Our Customers"!
Simply put, our review of the
Nitto NT05 tires is both concise and extensive. We
believe its our business to know about a product that we have
thousands invested into to fill our tire racks.
The NT05 is not for everyone, but it has some incredible attributes that are well worth noting. There is no question that the design of the NT05 is stunning
but this computer engineered tread design was created for extreme performance and
traction. With its elongated outer tread blocks and completely solid center
tread bar, the NT05 Tires create an unprecedented contact surface area for the pavement.
This provides possibly the largest contact patch of any non-drag radial tire.
One of our tire techs here at Cruizin Concepts Wholesale provided us with a great key-noted phrase regarding this
new product, which was as he put it, "The NT05 is the Moses of Tires". This
is somewhat of a profound statement but the NT05 has actually parted the red sea
as Moses did in the old testament in a certain sense. Nitto has been one of the
best selling tires in the nation for the Ford Mustang with its widely acclaimed
NT555 model and corresponding NT555R drag. The NT555 has a UTQG of 300, which by
most standards will produce a respectable 30-38k of tread life. The Nitto NT555R
Drag radial has a UTQG of 100, which illustrates how much softer it is by a 200 points
drop from the standard 555. The Moses like NT05 tires split difference
of these with an incredible UTQG rating of 200! Thus the NT05 is 100
points softer than the pinnacle of popularity in the NT555, yet is 100 points
harder than the Drag. With this UTQG the NT05 manages to provide an amazing
20-30k worth of tread life which isn't bad for performance driven stang.
The fact that the compound is much softer in the NT05 makes it a very attractive
high performance tire on dry pavement. The available sizes are also very
attractive with the NT05, especially for the 1994-2004 Mustang. The NT05 is
available coveted widths up to
315/35ZR/17,
295/35ZR/18 and 315/35ZR/20! Who wouldn't love those sizes right? The NT05
has performed extremely well in our road tests in several areas which include
cornering with its newly designed sidewall. Drag launches have an ironically
close feel to that of a drag radial and is sure to be a hit among those that desire something that will grip the road when the
RWHP is really thrown down from a dead stop.
TThe ride quality is very impressive with the Nitto NT05 Tires and much of this in our
opinion is due to the softer compound. The most impressive thing regarding this tire
is its ability to have incredible wet traction. The
NT05 utilizes two deep parallel channels to instantantly create space for
standing water on the pavement and from what we have gathered more so than
personally tested is its ability to feed
out this water rather efficiently. For a tire that looks and feels much like a drag,
it actually appears to get incredible wet traction ratings
from nitto and customer's alike.
Our reviews conclusion on the
Nitto NT05 tires is an extremely positive one. If your on
a budget the Nitto NT05 is very affordable and when compared to the NT555, it is only a
few dollars more than the most popular Mustang Tire in North America.
Considering the sizes available, the affordable pricing and amazing traction
provided
with this new tire, our review would stress that it's a best buy in our book.
Again not a tire for everyone and if you need a tire that will provide the lowest price
point and/or 40K+ in tread life it may not be for you. However we feel this tire
will be in the majority which could make this the biggest thing over the
next decade!
